Bio
Sylvia Fiorello is
a Chautauqua County resident who lives with her husband
in Jamestown, New York, and also in Ocala, Florida for
part of the year. A former teacher, she retired in 2004
from a background that included English teacher, counselor,
education coordinator, director of prevention education
and a family literacy teacher in the adult education division
of Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES.
Her
favorite occupation now is being "nana" to three
little preschool grandsons located in New York and Florida.
Her second favorite job is writing about healthy eating
in her fact/fiction book, My Best Friend Ever.
In
this fact-filled fiction book, seventh graders, Olive
and Amy O, best friends, decide to explore and take on
the systems that sabotage healthy eating in their quest
to be more fit. Empowered by their idea, they decide to
write a how to book for all kids who want to eat and exercise
healthy. During the course of the book they learn what
true friendship is and become role models for their peers.
The result is a humorous chapter book that is a fun ride
filled with facts and ideas to help all kids to make informed
choices about what they eat and do to be healthier for
life.
This is her first book, but probably not her last.
